Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. (15 January 1929 - 4 April 1968) was an American pastor, activist and prominent leader of the African-American civil rights struggle. He is also called Gandhi of America. His efforts progressed in the field of civil rights in America; That is why they are also seen as a symbol of human rights today. Two churches have also recognized him as a saint.
Biography Martin Luther King, Jr. was born in 1929 in Atlanta, USA. Dr. King conducted a successful non-violent movement in the United States against discrimination against the Negro community. The year 1955 was the turning point in his life. The same year he was married to Coretta, he was called to speak at the Dexter Avenue Baptist Church in Montgomery City in the southern US state of Alabama, and in the same year a woman, Mrs Rose Parks, was arrested against the discrimination of blacks in the public buses of Montgomery. Only then did Dr. King launch the famous bus movement.
After this movement, which lasted for 381 days, the provision of keeping separate seats for black and white passengers in American buses was abolished. Later, with the help of religious leaders, the same civil law movement spread in the northern part of America. He was awarded the Nobel Prize for world peace in 1964. Many American universities have conferred honorary degrees on him. Religious and social organizations gave him several medals. TIME magazine named him Man of the Year of 1963. He was highly influenced by Gandhi's non-violent movement. Following the ideals of Gandhiji, Martin Luther King Jr. launched such a successful movement in America, which was supported by most Goro.
